THREE POEMS by NADIA PATTERSON

THE CLOCK ON THE WALL IS GIVING ME EYES

I look at time like the clock is aaaaaalways running

I look at time like it wants to

sleep with me (gasp!)

I look at the clock to make sense of things

I look at time because it tells

me           what to do

it bosses me around

and I like it.

…..wanna fuck?

FASHION DON’T

I’m a fashion DON’T!!!

a fashion doo-doo

a BIG BROWN stain on the red carpet

but I get kicked out!

all the rich people

lavish in their Dior

are worried I stole their look

I’M WAITINGGGGG

i lick the back of a stamp slick and wet , plaster it to my forehead

and send myself off in the post

land on your doorstep like you ordered me

on amazon prime and oh my god

i am prime

thinking : wow

i must have made your dreams come true

i must be the whole package

i’m waitinggggg

they tucked me behind the pot plant by your doorstep

on the porch step

where i make friends with a spider

who waits for you to come home, like i do

waitwaitWAIT

no seriously, wait!!!

wait

i have something to tell you

i just have to say --

i can’t wait forever

i can’t wait

i have to go

i have so many places to go

i won’t.

….wait, !
